Senior researcher

Edurne is a senior researcher at Orkestra and a lecturer at Deusto Business School. She has over 20 years’ experience in research and analysis of public policy with a regional focus, in collaboration with regional, national and international institutions. Her work focuses on contributing to regional competitiveness and well-being through research into regional strategies and policies, with a particular emphasis on innovation. In this field, she has worked primarily on smart specialisation strategies and transformative innovation policies.

Edurne has published extensively in books and high-impact academic journals, and also serves on editorial boards. She is currently an associate editor of the journal Regional Studies and Regional Science, and a member of the Editorial Board of Ekonomiaz. Furthermore, she is regularly invited as an expert by regional, national and international organisations, such as the OECD and the European Commission.

As part of her research in the Basque Country, Edurne has led projects in her areas of expertise, primarily for the Basque Government and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia.


Career

  • She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management and a Master’s degree in Innovation and Technology Management from the University of Deusto.
  • She holds a PhD cum laude in Business Competitiveness and Economic Development, with an international specialisation, from the University of Deusto, having undertaken a research placement at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.
