On the 7th December Mari Jose Aranguren, general director of Orkestra, attended the yearly appointment with the MOC network (Microeconomics of Competitiveness) at the University of Harvard. Michael E. Porter, promotor of this network of which the Institute is a member, held over three days a series of sessions where, among other things, he spoke about the microeconomic challenges faced by territories.
25 years after the publication of “The Competitive Advantage of Nations”, Porter and his team from the Institute for Strategy of the University of Harvard, support the construction of inclusive territorial development, where as well as business competitiveness, they contemplate aspects related to social progress, and creating shared value by territorial agents. The aim of this new vision is to integrate the society’s well-being as well as the sustainability of the territory in its competitive development.
Orkestra, in line with the construction of inclusive development, of Michael Porter, includes research areas centred on sustainable socioeconomic progress, where they also work on aspects related to creating shared value.
Susana Franco, who leads this area, explains in this video (spanish) what sustainable socioeconomic progress is, as well as Orkestra’s contribution to the territory is in this field.
Furthermore, Iñigo Ruiz de Apodaca has been working since 2015 on the concept of creating share value, through the project Blue Economy Applied to Territorial Development. Iñigo carries out the project in collaboration with Azaro Fundazioa, the foundation created by the county development agency Lea-Artibai (Bizkaia), with the aim of driving the creation of new firms and improving the industry’s competitiveness. In the following video (in spanish), this term is defined and its application in the territory is explained.
