Miren Larrea, senior researcher at Orkestra and member of Zubigintza (action research laboratory of Gipuzkoa Sarean) participated as a speaker in the course on “Smart territories” organised by Garapen, the University of the Basque Country and the producer of business models RealiZe.
Based on her experience in Gipuzkoa Sarean, Larrea focused her presentation on shared vision as a key to making territorial development smart, by underlining the importance of two concepts: governance, given that a smart territory needs a different relationship model, based on the construction of networks; and strategy, a concept that, as well as a planning perspective, needs to look at learning, negotiating and teamwork. In this regard, Larrea stated that “smart territories are those that have the capacity to face problems collectively”.
The course “Smart Territories” will be held today and tomorrow at the Miramar Palace in San Sebastián. Its objective is to offer a vision of smart territories which is more than just from the economy point of view, given that “over the last years changes have been made towards more comprehensive actions and strategies that take into account social and environmental aspects”.
