Related information

Miren Larrea, senior researcher at Orkestra, began her professional career as a research assistant at the University of Deusto, where she wrote her doctoral thesis on the local production systems of the Basque Country. After a decade dedicated to teaching and research, she worked for six years at a local development agency, where she combined her experience as a regional development professional with her work as a university researcher.

After this, she joined Orkestra-Basque Institute of Competitiveness as a senior researcher, with the aim of carrying out an approach to research that would link research on regional development with practical work in the same field.

A large part of her work today focusses on the development of action research processes with policy makers, in order to create participatory perspectives of regional development. She holds a Degree in Business Administration and Management and a Ph.D. in Economic Science from the University of Deusto.

Miren has published various articles in international journals and books, on networks for regional development, local development agencies, government, policy learning and action research as a strategy for regional development.
