Yesterday afternoon, Tolosaldea Garatzen welcomed a formative talk about counties given by Miren Larrea, researcher at Orkestra. The talk, given in Basque, was titled “Eskualdetasuna eta garapen ekonomikoa” and its main objective was to explain to the participants the importance that the county can have.

Larrea expressed, on the one hand, the complexity of the term territorial development and the importance of the sense of belonging to a county in taking steps forward, given that “the locality may possibly be too small in the implementation of policies”. And on the other hand, she described the project Gipuzkoa Sarean, looking for dialogue among and the implication of participants at all times.

Participants included, among others, Sebastián Zurutuza, director of Management Strategy at the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa; Itziar Arratibel, Vice Chairman of Tolosaldea Garatzen; and different mayors and city councillors of localities in Tolosaldea.
The talk was held as part of the training programme on municipal governance 2015, organised by the development agency Tolosaldea.
