Mari José Aranguren, general director, and University of Navarra, researcher at Orkestra, have participated in the seminar “Action Research: concept and development of new projects”, organised by the group for research into innovative decisions in the business environment, of the School of Economics of the University of Navarra.
The aim of the workshop was to discuss the role of companies, public institutions and researchers in processes of action-research. In this line, the meeting focussed on knowledge sharing, with regard to: action research projects; the relationship between this study methodology and the University; the development of relationships and networks based on action research; and the publication of work based on this type of research in academic journals.
Indeed, the Orkestra researchers, Mari Jose Aranguren and Miren Larrea, spoke about how to write academic works based upon the experience and methodology of action research.
In this context, Miren Larrea pointed out that: “Although action research is not a very widely employed approach in the academic field linked to territorial competitiveness, the concept appears to be gaining strength in areas linked to business competitiveness, thus generating potential spaces in which Orkestra might collaborate with other universities in our region”.
The meeting was attended by well-known figures in the field of action research, such as Morten Levin, professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, who has supported Orkestra during this period in the development of its own approach to action research, explained in the work “Territorial Development and Action Research: Innovation Through Dialogue”, edited by Miren Larrea and James Karlsen, professor at the University of Agder (Norway) and collaborator with Orkestra in the Zubigintza project, the aim of which is to promote territorial development in the province of Gipuzkoa via the application of this type of methodology.
