Today Orkestra together with Garapen, the Association of Basque Local Development Agencies, have held a training session on advanced manufacturing.
Mikel Navarro, researcher at Orkestra and Professor of Economics at the University of Deusto, has opened the session contextualising the term Industry 4.0 and its implications for industrial development. Participation also included: Xabier Sabalza, of DeustoTech, who spoke about Industry 4.0 in the Basque context; Patxi Samaniego, innovation director at Etxe-tar, who shared his business experiences in the application of new technologies within the productive process; and Cristina Oyón, head of strategic initiatives at SPRI-Basque Business Development Agency, who spoke about the Basque Government’s perspective in this field.
Over 60 technicians from county development agencies participated in the session, as well as professionals from technology centres. The aim of the session was to study the term Industry 4.0 and its development in the Basque Country, get to know the position of the Basque Government in this respect, and reflect on the role and area of action of development agencies with regards to the introduction of advanced manufacturing systems within the county’s industry.
