2017 Competitiveness Report in Spanish available here. (The report in English will be available soon).
Coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the creation of the Institute as an agent of change in the socio-economic development of the Basque Country, the presentation of the Competitiveness Report 2017 analyses the evolution of the main challenges to the competitiveness of the region over the last decade on two levels:
- Diagnosis of the competitive position of the Basque Country: analysis of the evolution of the competitive situation during these ten years in which the current circumstances of the Basque Country are defined, paying special attention to the challenges identified in previous reports on the basis of this analysis.
- Deeper examination of the Basque Country’s position vis-à-vis some of the challenges (identified in the Manifesto prepared by Orkestra on the occasion of its tenth anniversary) facing the region over the next decade.
To this end, there is analysis of the sophistication of business strategies in innovation and internationalisation, the evolution of clusters and cluster policy, energy as a strategic sector for the country, the Basque innovation system, and processes of governance and coordination of the development strategies and policies applied in the Basque Country.
The conference, presided by the President of the Basque Country, Iñigo Urkullu, will conclude with a series of recommendations, based on these diagnoses, regarding how to address these challenges in the coming years.
