Bizkaia’s minister for Economic and territorial Development, Imanol Pradales, took part this Friday in a work session at the Bic Bizkaia Ezkerraldea where the so-called "specialisation map of Bizkaia" was presented, a tool permitting the sharing of certain conclusions with regard to specialisation in Bizkaia and its zones, comparison with Europe, and the identification of strengths, challenges and opportunities
The project to encourage county competitiveness was set up a year ago by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, in collaboration with Orkestra. On the occasion of its first anniversary, the agents involved in this initiative met to take stock of the progress made in recent months and set new challenges.
Pradales expressed his gratitude for "the effort" made over the last year in order that this project might achieve its goal of "building a more modern and competitive Bizkaia, with more economic activity and quality employment". He offered a "positive" assessment of the "intense year of collaborative work", with over 80 meetings of the work teams during which they identified and agreed upon the most important challenges in the sphere of competitiveness.
Pradales highlighted the "vital" collaboration of Orkestra in order to make progress and, in this context, situated the creation of a map of Bizkaia with some conclusions regarding specialisation in Bizkaia and its different zones, in comparison with Europe, "a valuable tool to identify strengths, challenges and opportunities ".
He urged those involved to continue to take steps to transform the information gathered into action. "This year the foundations have been laid in order to undertake specific actions and expect soon to achieve results. Now is when we should feel more motivated than ever, on the brink of beginning to obtain tangible and real results", he added.
Finally, the head of Economic and territorial Development called for "ambition to implement tractor and transformative projects in every zone of Bizkaia". Having established the potential of the four zones, the Council and Orkestra have laid the foundations for taking specific measures and seeking results: “2107 will be a year of economic growth. We must not miss the boat”, insisted Pradales.
