Predoctoral researcher

 

Jaime is predoctoral researcher at the Energy & Environment Lab, where he works on the linkage between energy transition and sustainable regional competitiveness. With this purpose, he develops different projects in collaboration with some of the main players of the energy sector in the Basque Country, like the Basque Energy Agency (EVE), Iberdrola and Repsol - Petronor.

His main work areas are related to sustainable mobility, the development of new energy transportation infrastructures (power smart grids, hydrogen, CO2, etc.), industrial decarbonization, energy policy and regulation or energy and natural resources geopolitics, among others. His academic research also addresses issues like sustainability, business model innovation or the transition in key sectors like oil and gas (O&G). In addition, he has organized sectoral international events.

With an engineering background, he received the CEPSA’s (nowadays MOEVE) award for the best Final Studies Project in Exploration and Production of Hydrocarbons and started his professional career at the Department of Environment, Sustainability, Innovation and Climate Change at EDP Spain. His experience includes the participation as speaker in industrial forums and international networks, like the International Energy Agency (IEA), WPC Energy (formerly World Petroleum Council), World Energy Council (WEC), the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE)’s International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC) or Enlit Europe


Career

  • He holds a degree in Mining Engineering, specializing in Energy, from the University of Oviedo.
  • He launched his academic and research career upon joining Orkestra in 2015.
  • Later, he completed his PhD within the Business Management, Knowledge, and Innovation program at the University of the Basque Country.
