Research
Her work is focused on enhancing territorial development through collaborative and action-oriented processes. Her research connects to issues of political economy, collaborative governance, democracy and epistemic justice.
She has 15 years experience doing action-research, facilitating strategic collaboration amongst diverse territorial actors. In her projects, she explores the possibility for international connections, shared learnings, and experiences amongst practitioners, policymakers, and academics focusing on how to translate those to concrete actions. She has also contributed to the development of creative spaces to engage citizens and foster inclusive and multicultural dialogues on socio-economic issues that impact territorial development. Of particular interest to her, are the roles and responsibilities of universities and university researchers in such processes.
Malida has published reports and international peer-review articles on territorial development, organisation of knowledge, and action research. She is an editor of the International Journal of Action Research and an active member of research communities including Zubigintza, Action Research Plus and Qualitative Research Lab- Global South.
Career
- Before joining Orkestra, she worked at the University of British Columbia in Canada, from 2015 to 2024. She held responsibilities as a researcher, lecturer and Program Director for a post-experience Master of Management.
- She has a BSc (Hons.) Management with Finance from the University of Mauritius, a Master of Economic Competitiveness and International Business from the University of Birmingham.
- She obtained her PhD in Socio-Management from the University of Stirling.
