In the premises of the Aerospace and Defense Meeting (ADM) Seville, one of the biggest meeting points for representatives of aerospace and defense industry, the partners of the European Aerospace Cluster Partnership (EACP) consortium held a meeting within the project Reaching Up to Excellence in Aerospace Cluster Management (RUE AERO), which also included the participation of HEGAN, the Basque Aerospace Cluster. This meeting encompassed strategy training with a focus on latest cluster trends in the European Union (EU) which was moderated by Anastasiia Konstantynova, researcher at Orkestra-Basque Institute of Competitiveness.
During the strategy training on cluster trends, three EU priority lines for further cluster development were addressed: 1) clusters as accelerators for innovation and industrial change, 2) international cluster cooperation, and 3) cluster excellence; highlighting the further importance of clusters and their interlinkages with new emerging industries, such as digital industries, blue growth, mobility, creative industries and others.
More detailed information on EU trends can be found at the EU Cluster Portal. Participants discussed a broad number of topics associated with rising challenges and opportunities while centering on two main lines: better integration and participation of small and medium enterprises to reach/ apply for the EU funding; and sectoral interplay between leading aerospace/ sector companies and EU regional trends especially in light of Smart Specialization Strategies for Regional Development (RIS3).
