Marijose Foro Empleabilidad BYEF

Mari Jose Aranguren, General Director at Orkestra, participated in the Youth Employment Forum (#BYEF), organised by the Novia Salcedo Foundation and ICARO think tank. During her presentation she emphasized the need to foster relationships based on trust within firms, which benefits both the employer and the employee.

She also pointed out the need for firms to become a place where the employee can demonstrate his/her capabilities and feel valued, and in order to do this it is necessary that the relationships are not based on “control”. Mari Jose stated that, “the mentality that firms are tools that favour only the employer, must be changed” and added, “for a firm to succeed it is important that the employee feels like it is their own, and feels part of it”.

With regards to youth employment, Mari Jose Aranguren mentioned that, “from the school it is necessary to work and develop skills of the students, as well as the sense of responsibility so that the new generations can face day to day challenges in a positive manner”.

Mari Jose formed part of the round table on employment, as part of the objectives of sustainable development marked by the United Nations, together with: Ángel Toña, Minister for Employment in the Basque Government; Teresa Laespada, Provincial Councillor for Employment, inclusion and equality at the Provincial Council of Bizkaia; Ruben Urosa, General Director at INJUVE, Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality; Virginia Múgica, from the D Department of Labour Relations at Confebask; Unai Sordo, Secretary-General at CCOO Basque Country; Jesús García, Head of the Department of Studies and Programmes at UGT-Euskadi; Gorka Maiztegi, Head of Employment at the Permanent Commission for the Basque Youth Council; Sara de la Rica, Professor of Economics at the University of the Basque Country.

They debated and replied to questions related to employability, among the objectives for sustainable development marked by the United Nations for the period 2015-2030. Participants of the round table spoke about what productive model, what organisational culture and what competences will be essential for achieving a valuable relationship that favours persons and helps overcome the new socio-economic challenges of the future.
