This morning saw the kick off of the conference on Smart Grids: Technolgy, Competitiveness, Regulation and New Business Models (#JIEEC2015) organised by Orkestra and Tecnalia. More than 150 international experts are expected to exchange ideas on the sector and its recent progress, with special attention on smart grids.
Emiliano López- Atxurra, Chairman of Orkestra’s Sponsor Committee of the Energy Department and President of Petronor; Asís Canales, Vice President of Tecnalia; and Aitor Oregi, Director of Energy, Mines and Industrial Management at the Basque government have taken part in the opening of the conference being held today and tomorrow in the Euskalduna Convention Centre in Bilbao.
The presentations will be centred around three themes: “Electrical Power Distribution and the Regulatory Environment”; “Electrical Power Interconnections and Integration of Offshore Wind Energy”; and “Advanced Distribution Networks, Information Management and Integration of Distributed Energy Resources”. Furthermore, the session includes a visit to InGRID, Tecnalia’s new Smart Grids Testing and Research Lab.
The conference includes the collaboration of ABB, Arteche, Iberdrola, Ingeteam, Ormazabal and ZIV, as well as the expert opinion of professionals from Ente Vasco de la Energía (EVE), Red Eléctrica de España, la Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC), Gas Natural Fenosa, Schneider Electric, Toshiba Corporation, Siemens España, EDP-HC Energía, Endesa, Viesgo and SINTEF Energy, among others.
The conference will be closed by Orkestra’s General Director, Mari Jose Aranguren, and Tecnalia’s General Director, Joseba Jauregizar.
This conference combines the work of Tecnalia and Orkestra to contribute to territorial competitiveness, so as to advance in the business model and economic and regulatory dimension with the aim of guaranteeing the development of these technologies.
