 Eloy Energiewende2

The head of the Energy Department, Eloy Álvarez Pelegry, travelled to Brussels to take part in the discussion panel of the “Energiewende meets Energy Union: Towards integration and sustainability” event, which took place on 2nd July in the offices of the Bavarian Branch.

The day, organised by Euro-CASE, an association of European academics in science, technology and industry, focused on addressing the European energy union in the context of energy transactions, and on its relationship with energy transition in Germany.

Eloy Álvarez Pelegry, head of the Orkestra's Department of Energy and Member of the Royal Academy of Engineering, participated in the debating panel which looked at the European Commission's proposals regarding the Energy Union. Alongside him at the debating table were: Michael Theurer, member of the European Parliament's Committee on Industry, Research and Energy; Mechthild Wörsdörfer, head of the European Commission's energy policy and of the General Management of Energy; Peter Lund, President of the energy panel of the EASAC (European Academies Science Advisory Council) and lecturer in energy physics and advanced energy systems at the Universidad de Aalto (Finland) and Joanna Mackowiak, senior associate of the Cooperative Energy Union of Agora Energiewende and head of the Forum for Energy Analysis (Warsaw) project. Eloy's participation in the event was framed within the context of the relationships that Orkestra’s Department of Energy maintains with the Royal Academy of Engineering.
