Orkestra is looking for an economic-financial research analyst and a post-doctoral researcher in territorial competitiveness to join its team
Economic-Financial Research Analyst
The candidate must hold a degree and have had solid quantitative training (mathematics, statistics, business or economic administration and management with knowledge of modelling) and a good academic record. Postgraduate studies (Masters in Accounting and Finance) or a doctorate would be desirable. Additionally, his or her knowledge of quantitative techniques and computer programmes and software will be kept in mind, and particularly advanced knowledge of IT, programming and statistical software. Practical knowledge of SAS, Stata and R is considered essential. The candidate must also have experience in statistical analysis or modelling, preferably in the area of credit risk, or in the economic environment or in technical consulting (at least 5 years). The candidate must demonstrate communication and summarising skills, written and verbal communication skills, the ability to analyse and apply thought and logic to problem solving, and the ability to work in a team, plan and be consistent. Finally, he or she must demonstrate command of both spoken and written English.
Roles:
- Carry out research projects and create scientific documents applied to the analysis of the Basque economy; in particular, the candidate will collaborate in the development of economic and financial databases related to different territorial levels.
- Study the development and determiners of the structure of the economic system and of the behaviour of Basque competitiveness, with special emphasis on details such as the design and evaluation of economic policies and their application in regional analyses.
- With experience in the design of models for the credit rating for corporate segments; monitoring the models implemented to ensure that they are suitable for the purpose for which they were created; and the drafting of technical documentation related to the models (describe the models that have been developed, study their monitoring, etc.).
- Participate as well in the studies that from such bases are carried out in the transversal line of analysis and benchmarking, as well as in studies that can be carried out in the different lines of the Institute's knowledge with such databases.
- In addition to gaining fundamental competency in both fields, his/her training in the purest academic research will be aided, so that based on experience, knowledge and development, he/she can acquire greater levels of responsibility within the projects.
- Preparation of information and documentation required by other areas.
Post-Doctoral Researcher in Territorial Competitiveness
The candidate must have a doctorate and previous studies related to issues of competitiveness and territorial development (for example, in economic geography, political science, regional studies, business economy and management). He or she must have communication and summarising skills, and the ability to interact with stakeholders relevant to his/her research, in a multidisciplinary environment, conscious of its impact on his/her research. The candidate must have command of English, both spoken and written, and must be able to work in a team, plan and be consistent.
Roles:
- Form part of Orkestra's team that carries out research projects, on a local and international level, on competitiveness and territorial development, seeking to have a positive influence on the Basque Country's competitiveness and development.
- The identification, definition and development of research projects, both local (in the Basque Country and Spain) and international (Horizon 2020 and other programmes of the European Commission), on topics related to competitiveness and territorial development.
- Interact with the relevant stakeholders in the identification, definition and development processes of projects with the potential to have an impact on competitiveness and territorial development.
- Produce applied scientific documents related to the projects undertaken, to publish in impact journals, academic books and/or reports.
- Study the evolution and determinants of the economic system's structure and of the behaviour of Basque competitiveness in general, with special emphasis on details such as the design and evaluation of economic policies and their application in regional analyses.
- Contribute to Orkestra's training activities in executive programmes, masters, doctors and ad hoc.
