Over the last two years, the pandemic has put the world economy at risk, has pushed our health system to the limit and has radically modified the way we interact. Faced with such an uncertain scenario, at Orkestra we have committed ourselves more than ever to contribute to decision-making with rigorous analysis that help us to reflect on the competitiveness of the Basque Country, and to detect trends, opportunities and threats.
Coinciding with our 15th anniversary, we have analysed the Basque Territorial Strategy during the last decades with two main objectives. First to identify the bases of the strategy to align it with the great social challenges and transitions that affect our economy. Second, to extract lessons for other territories that seek to build long-term resilient economic development and for which the Basque Case can serve as a reference.
Another of the institute's great milestones in 2021 has been the development of a new framework for analysis on territorial competitiveness, which advocates strengthening the foundations of sustainable economic development, combining and bringing competitiveness and people's wellbeing to the same level .
We are aware of the complexity of joining both concepts, which are often seen as different sides of the same coin, but in collaboration with the entities that support us, and to which we thank them for their commitment, we will continue working with enthusiasm to be an agent of change that contributes to a more competitive territory for inclusive and sustainable wellbeing.
