The President of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, Unai Rementeria, held a meeting with the heads of Deusto University and Orkestra-Basque Institute of Competitiveness, during which they had the opportunity to share some thoughts regarding the main challenges of the future to be addressed by the territory.

In this respect, both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to continue collaborating in order to strengthen the competitive position and the territorial balance of Bizkaia.

This meeting took place within the framework of the meetings which the leading figures at the Institute are holding with different public and private institutions, in order to reinforce its network of partnerships ten years after its creation. During this period, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and Orkestra have collaborated in different research, diagnosis and territorial strategy projects.

In today’s meeting, both organisations offered an evaluation of these ten years of collaboration. The Deputy General, Unai Rementeria, was accompanied by he minister for Economic and Territorial Development, Imanol Pradales. Present on behalf of Orkestra were the Rector of Deusto University, José María Guibert, the President of the Institute, Ignacio Mª Echeberría, the Honorary President, José Luis Larrea, the Director General, Maria José Aranguren, and the Assistant Director General, Ibon Gil de San Vicente.

The Orkestra directors and the leading representatives of the provincial government reviewed the most important projects promoted by the Institute, highlighting the progress achieved in the economic, social and business transformation of the Basque Country, from a perspective of public-private collaboration that has brought together the university, the institutions, the companies and other agents of the territory

In addition, Unai Remetería and Imanol Pradales were presented with the Manifesto “Towards a New Normality”, prepared by Orkestra on the occasion of its 10th Anniversary and which identifies some of the principal challenges facing the Basque Country in the near future, and a publication detailing all the scientific production undertaken by researchers at the Institute over these ten years.

In collaboration with
