On the occasion of its 10th anniversary the mayor of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Gorka Urtaran, received in the Town Hall this morning the leading figures of Orkestra-Basque Institute of Competitiveness of Deusto University, who presented him with the Manifesto “Towards a new normality”, prepared by Orkestra and which identifies some of the main challenges facing the Basque Country in the near future.
This meeting takes place within the context of the 10th anniversary of the creation of the Basque Institute of Competitiveness. The mayor was accompanied by the councillor for Employment and Sustainable Economic Development, Nerea Melgosa. Orkestra was represented by the president, Ignacio Mª Echeberría, the honorary president, José Luis Larrea, and the director general, Maria José Aranguren.
During the meeting, the heads of Orkestra informed the mayor of the Institute’s most significant achievements and projects during its ten years of life, underlining the value of being an initiative of public-private cooperation which has contributed significantly to the increased competitiveness of the Basque Country and to the well-being of its citizens.
In this context, Orkestra, which has become an international reference in the study of regional competitiveness, seeks to open with the City Council of Vitoria-Gasteiz a space of dialogue with regard to the importance of addressing, at a local level too, initiatives that will make it possible to face the main challenges of the future.
Orkestra-Basque Institute of Competitiveness, of Deusto University, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year with the challenge of continuing to contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the Basque Country.
