Under the motto “connecting clusters with RIS3 priorities”, the Basque Government and SPRI will be holding the first annual meeting about clusters titled “Basque Cluster Day”. The purpose of the meeting is to share key themes in order to promote cluster dynamism in the aim of improving competitiveness through cooperation – above all in terms of the role that needs to be played by Basque clusters in the RIS3 smart specialisation process.
Orkestra will be taking part in the programme together with Arantza Tapia, Minister for Economic Development and Sustainability, Alexander Arriola, CEO of SPRI, and representatives from Orkestra and Harvard University.
This first Basque Cluster Day marks the 25th anniversary of cluster policy in Euskadi. It was in 1990 when the renowned economist Michael Porter, Honorary President of Orkestra, designed what would be the cluster policy that would come to form part of the Industrial Policy plans promoted by the Basque Government.
