 The Project JeanMonnet english

The Chair on Energy will present its latest work on transport and energy in the Atlantic Basin. Set within the Jean Monnet project on Atlantic Studies, the book draws its inspiration from land transport policies adopted on both sides of the Atlantic.

The Jean Monnet Network on Atlantic Studies is formed by ten leading centres from the four Atlantic continents, one of which is Orkestra with its Chair in Energy.

The book was published jointly by the Center for Transatlantic Relations at Johns Hopkins University and the Orkestra Chair in Energy. It comprises an introduction, seven chapters and a section on conclusions and recommendations. It offers a holistic vision of transport and energy in the Atlantic Basin with innovative analysis and a far-reaching view of these subjects and inter-regional collaboration.

The book presents various policy approaches adopted on both sides of the Atlantic in land transport (EU, Latin America and Africa) and maritime transport. In this latter case, it examines transport of energy as well as the role of energy in transport.

Through this book, the Network intends to shed light on energy and transport in the context of energy transitions whose dynamics are still unknown and not adequately understood. It also explores the search for a low-coal economy, where transport is going to play a key role through new energy alternatives and innovations in conventional energies.

The following will take part in the presentation:

  • Emiliano López Atxurra, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Orkestra Chair in Energy.
  • Paul Isbell, Co-editor of the work and CAF Atlantic Energy Fellow at the Transatlantic Relations at Johns Hopkins University SAIS in Washington, DC
  • Eloy Álvarez Pelegry, Co-editor of the work and Head of the Energy Department at Orkestra-Basque Institute for Competitiveness, University of Deusto

Attendees will receive a copy of the book following the presentation, when a coffee break will be held.
