4.3. Business environment

The business environment is key to creating the conditions necessary to allow firms to increase their productivity and compete effectively in international markets. In this section, we analyse various spheres. The first group of indicators refers to aspects related to the labour resources available in the territory. The second group deals with the innovation environment, as regards to public expenditure on innovation and personnel, and the collaboration taking places in the academic sphere to analyse whether foreign collaboration may be helping to bring in knowledge from abroad and if there are jointly authored publications in the academic and industrial world which may help to transfer scientific knowledge to business. Lastly, the final group relates to the digitisation environment of the economy.
