Abstract

In this editorial, Malida Mooken and Patricia Canto-Farachala critically reflect on the various contemporary issues, evoked by the papers in the special issue of the International Journal of Action Research, titled Pushing boundaries to enhance the reach and scope of action research (Vol. 21, Issue 3/2025). Their discussion addresses the urgent need for action researchers to connect and contribute to: social and political movements in the context of globalisation; decolonial epistemic shift; action research training; transcending single cases and promoting systemic change. They foreground the importance of innovative research methodologies and communicative action in doing so.
