Abstract
Highly industrialised regions are economically specialised and have a higher level of innovation. Due to this uniqueness, their business fabric has its own financial needs. In Europe, highly industrialised regions are not located in the main financial hubs and therefore have their own financial ecosystems. This paper explores the origins, current situation and challenges of the financial ecosystem in the Basque Country. It also proposes some areas of development to make it an ecosystem that effectively channels savings, both from within and outside the territory, to finance a highly industrialised and changing business fabric.
