En este trabajo se examinan los factores históricos que están en el origen del clúster de la industria aeronáutica y espacial del País Vasco. Se analiza la evolución que ha experimentado el clúster y los factores sobre los que se ha fundamentado su ventaja competitiva. Este análisis permite entender las ventajas competitivas actuales del clúster y valorar su perdurabilidad.
