Director of projects and territorial impact

 
   

Ibon is Director of Projects and Regional Impact. His work focuses on aligning the strategy of research projects with the region’s challenges, connecting businesses, public institutions and knowledge organisations to generate impact.

When he first joined Orkestra in 2006, he took on responsibilities relating to the financial management of projects and institutional relations. He currently coordinates research projects analysing the relationship between business financing, competitiveness and regional development. These include the Basque Country Economic and Financial Observatory, the research strand on business roots, and projects linked to the Smart Business Lab and

Her work combines the strategic management of projects with the analysis of regional competitiveness and business financing. In recent years, she has delved deeper into the role of local financial centres and their contribution to regional development, an area that ties in with her work on business needs, financing, business roots and the impact of applied research.


Career

  • He holds a degree in Economics from the University of the Basque Country and an MBA from the University of Kent.
  • Before joining Orkestra, he worked in financial institutions, with responsibilities relating to commercial banking and risk management.
  • In 2025, he was awarded a PhD in Business and Territorial Competitiveness, Innovation and Sustainability by the University of Deusto, with a thesis focusing on local financial centres.
