Ibone Eguia

Predoctoral researcher

Ibone is a Predoctoral Researcher and her research focuses on Cultural and Creative Industries and their contribution to competitiveness and territorial development. Her work explores both the economic impact of these industries and their contribution to regional wellbeing, with a particular interest in the digital transformation of the cultural and creative sector.

Since joining Orkestra in 2021, she has participated in several research projects developed in collaboration with public institutions in the Basque Country, mainly focused on analysing the competitiveness of the Basque cultural and creative ecosystem. She has also contributed to other Orkestra research lines related to employment policies and has participated in Action Research initiatives for Territorial Development.

As part of her academic activity, she completed a research stay at the University of Turin (Italy) and has participated in international academic forums such as the Microeconomics of Competitiveness Workshop at Harvard Business School, the AIMAC Conference and the Creativity World Forum.

Before joining Orkestra, she worked at the Economic and Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy in Portugal as a Market Analyst. She later worked at the Cultural Office of the Spanish Embassy in Lisbon and at Universal Music Portugal, promoting cultural projects and collaborations between Spain and Portugal.

Career

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the Euskal Herriko Unibertsitaea (EHU), including an Erasmus exchange at KU Leuven (Belgium).
She later completed a postgraduate degree in Internationalisation (UPV/EHU) through the BEINT programme of the Basque Government.
She also holds a Master’s Degree in Cultural Management from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC).
Currently she is a PhD candidate in the programme “Leisure, Culture and Communication for Human Development” at the University of Deusto.
