Jorge Fernández, senior researcher and coordinator for the field of energy at Orkestra since March 2018. PhD in Economics, Georgetown University (Washington DC), Jorge has broad experience in the energy sector. His areas of knowledge centre on: economics, energy market design and regulation (electricity and natural gas), trading and risk management, price modelling and energy demand, applied microeconomics and microeconometrics and wholesale markets and natural hubs.
Jorge was formerly director of analysis at MIBGAS for strategy, regulation and market research and technical director of Iberian Gas Hub, where he worked in gas hub development and implementation in the Iberian Peninsula. He also led the intermediation services on the company's wholesale natural gas market. He was deputy general manager of Intermoney Energía, where he led a specialist consultancy team on analysis of energy market regulation and operation and projects related to trading and risk management on energy markets, regulation and design of the electricity market and the Energy and Society project. He was a consultant at NERA Economic Consulting, where he worked on projects related to analysis of regulated activities in the electricity industry and its operation.
Jorge's work has been published in various specialist journals and he has authored books on energy market operation and regulation. He has also given papers on courses, conferences and specialist meetings on the energy sector in Spain.
