Roberto Álvaro, Researcher at Orkestra, is an Industrial Engineer Doctor (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid - UPM). He completed his PhD in Electrical Engineering on "Strategies for the integration of electric vehicles in the network".
He began his professional career at the UPM, where he worked on different projects on the impact on the network of generation technologies via renewable energies and electric vehicle fleet management, analysing the conduct of the electric vehicle fleet via Big Data techniques and evaluating their potential for building energy management.
He then joined Red Eléctrica de España, where he worked on various power line and electric cable projects: electrical parameter calculation, transitional arrangements in undersea cable switching operations, underground cable heating and maintenance of cable and fibre optic installations.
He is currently a researcher of the Energy Chair, where he participates in different national and international projects related to energy, highlighting the energy transition area. Since 2020 he coordinates the Communication of the Spanish section of IEEE, the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity.
