The role of market orientation on organisational innovation in Basque industrial SMEs is being studied in a doctoral thesis of the Strategy Department.

On Friday the 25th November, Maria Larraza, member of the Strategy Department of Orkestra, defended at Mondragon University her doctoral thesis project "The role of market orientation on organisational innovation in industrial SMEs of the Basque Country: Case studies". The examining board, formed by Deusto University, Orkestra and Mondragon University PhD’s, emphasized the robustness and ambition of the project, and especially valued its innovative character, in both the field of innovation and marketing studies and in the proposed research methodology. Currently the researcher is absorbed in field work of her first case study, and combines this activity with research projects of the Strategy Department.

 
11.1% of foreign investment made by Spanish multinationals is from the Basque Country

The internationalization of Spanish companies has now become a reality and there have been noteworthy success stories. However, as ESADE’s Spanish Multinational Company Strategy (OEME) warns – in collaboration with the ICEX (the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade), the PwC Foundation and the Banesto Cultural Foundation, the companies that have gained the largest foothold overseas are not sufficiently present in the economies that are expected to grow the fastest over the coming years, with the exception of Brazil.

Development of the model for measuring scales

Aitziber Elola, senior researcher in the area of strategy at Orkestra, has made today in the institute a presentation on the development of the model for measuring scales, stressing the importance of not measuring different dimensions.

The presentation was based on several examples where errors can be identified in implementing this model, which mainly occur when using abstract variables such as confidence, and along with the rest of researchers from Orkestra, Aitziber has analyzed what would have been the appropriate scale.

 
Sull gives the keys to succeed in periods of inestability

Yesterday Thursday 22th of May took place a conference by Donald Sull in the auditorium of the Guggenheim Museum under the title "Why good companies go bad". Sull, a renowned expert on international issues of strategy and associate professor at London Business School, has been accompanied by Ms. Ana Aguirre, Jose Luis Larrea and Alejandro Ruelas-Gossi, counciller of the Department of Industry, Commerce and Tourism of the Basque government, president and CEO of Orkestra, respectively.

With events like this, Orkestra-Basque Institute of Competitiveness, seeks to comply with its commitment of bringing world-class talents to Euskadi, who will transfer relevant knowledge for competitiveness to society and interact with key players.
