Mikel Navarro is an associate researcher at Orkestra and professor emeritus at the University of Deusto.
He specializes in matters of industrial competition and innovation systems, fields in which he has published over a dozen books and more than 50 articles and scientific collaborations, in both national and international publications.
In his long academic career he has occupied different positions at the University of Deusto and at the Basque Institute of Competitiveness: he was the Academic Director at the Basque Institute of Competitiveness when it was founded, Vice-Dean of ESTE and Head of the Economics Department, and Member of the Doctoral Commission, among others.
Mikel has been a member of the mirror group of the Smart Specialisation Platform organized by the European Commission. He was also a member of the editorial board of 'Ekonomiaz', a journal for which he has organized three monograph issues (on clusters, regional innovation systems and smart specialization strategies) and of the editorial board of 'Uztaro'.
Currently, he is a member of Gaindegia's scientific board.
